Our private Ísafjörður and Westfjords tour is the perfect way to explore one of Iceland’s most remote and spectacular regions at your own pace. The Westfjords are known for dramatic mountains, quiet fishing villages, deep fjords, and untouched nature, and this tour allows you to experience the highlights in comfort with a knowledgeable local guide.
We begin in Ísafjörður, the capital of the Westfjords, where colourful wooden houses sit between towering mountains and the calm waters of Skutulsfjörður. After meeting at the cruise port or your accommodation, we set out to explore the surrounding fjords and villages.
One of the highlights of the day is a visit to Dynjandi, often considered the most beautiful waterfall in Iceland. This massive cascading waterfall spreads out like a bridal veil as it tumbles down the mountainside. A short scenic walk leads to the main falls, passing several smaller waterfalls along the way and offering incredible views of the fjord below.
Along the drive we visit charming fishing villages such as Flateyri or Þingeyri, where you can see what life is like in these small and historic coastal communities. Depending on the route and your interests we may also stop at Hrafnseyri, the birthplace of Jón Sigurðsson, Iceland’s national hero, or visit quiet fjords where seals are often seen resting along the shoreline.
If time allows we can also visit Bolafjall, one of the most dramatic viewpoints in Iceland. From the viewing platform high above the cliffs you can look out across the Arctic Ocean and see the rugged coastline stretching far into the distance.
Throughout the day we make plenty of photo stops and can adjust the pace to match your interests. Whether you want more time for short walks, photography, or simply enjoying the scenery, the itinerary is flexible.
Private tours allow us to travel at a relaxed pace without the pressure of a large group. Your guide can share stories about Icelandic history, life in the Westfjords, local folklore, and the unique culture of this remote region.
We operate with comfortable modern vehicles depending on group size. For smaller groups of one to four guests we use a Tesla Model Y, while larger groups travel in a spacious minibus.
This tour is designed to show you the best of the Westfjords in a single unforgettable day while keeping the experience personal, flexible, and relaxed.
