Day 1: Explore Jalpaiguri Town & Nearby Attractions
Start your day with breakfast before heading to the historic Rajbari Palace, the former residence of the royal family of Jalpaiguri. Spend 30 to 45 minutes exploring the palace and its surroundings.
Next, visit Jubilee Park and Teesta Udyan, a riverside park perfect for walking and relaxation. Enjoy views of the Teesta River and local greenery for about 45 minutes.
Continue to Jogomaya Kali Mandir, a sacred temple in the heart of the city, and spend 20 minutes soaking in the spiritual atmosphere.
Afterwards, enjoy lunch at a local Bengali restaurant before visiting a nearby tea estate, such as Sannyasikata, to learn about tea processing. Spend 1 to 1.5 hours exploring the tea gardens.
Then, head to the Raikatpara Hanging Bridge (Teesta Bridge) for a 30-minute walk across the bridge, taking in scenic views of the river and forest.
In the evening, take a leisurely walk at Jubilee Park or explore the local market (Biswa Bangla / Chowpathi). Try local snacks, handicrafts, and sweets before having dinner and spending the night in Jalpaiguri.
Day 2: Gorumara National Park Excursion
Depart for Gorumara National Park at 6:30 AM, a journey of approximately 35 km that takes about 1 to 1.5 hours. Upon arrival, embark on a pre-booked jungle safari, where you can spot wildlife such as Indian bison, elephants, deer, and birds. Visit watchtowers like Medla, Jatraprasad, or Rhino Point during the 2 to 3-hour safari.
After the safari, visit the Lataguri Nature Interpretation Centre to learn about the Dooars’ flora and fauna for about 30 minutes. Enjoy lunch at a local dhaba or resort in Lataguri.
In the afternoon, take an optional visit to the Murti River or Chapramari Wildlife Sanctuary, a peaceful riverside spot ideal for relaxation and photos. Spend 1.5 to 2 hours here before returning to Jalpaiguri, a journey of about 1 to 1.5 hours.
In the evening, enjoy some shopping or rest before your departure.
