First-time visitors to Yakcheonsa Temple (藥川寺) are often astonished by the grandeur of its main hall, Daejeokgwangjeon Hall, and the quintessence of Buddhist art. The main hall's ceiling, a staggering 25 metres high, is three-story and houses a large Vairocana Buddha, flanked by Bhaisajyaguru Buddha and Amitabha Buddha. The wooden Buddhist paintings on the temple's back are a rare and exquisite work of Buddhist art, difficult to create and rare to find. Carvings of dragons ascending to heaven, holding a Yeouiju (a jewel in the shape of a yeouiju), adorn the steps to either side of the main hall entrance.
