This national treasure is a must-see, as the bronze statue sits at 11.3 metres tall and weighs over 12 tonnes. The Amitabha Buddha is visited by people from all over the world because it is one of the only statues of its kind to sit outside.

This breathtakingly old Japanese temple is home to one of the largest wooden statues in Japan of the Kan'non Bodhisattva, standing over 9 metres tall in the main hall. When you are done admiring the beauty of the temple, make your way around the lush grounds and admire all the flowers that summer has to offer.

Enoshima Island enshrines the Naked Goddess, the deity of entertainment and good match making. This may be one reason why it is considered home to a fun-loving beach community and the sightseeing couples visit.

Komachi-dori or Komachi Street is located close to Kamakura Station and has all the shopping you could hope for. This charming street is filled with small souvenir shops, gourmet restaurants, popular cafes, and tonnes of street food stands where you can grab an ice cream or croquette on the go! Once you are done shopping, the street ends at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.

The city of Kamakura was built around Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, so it makes sense that it sits in the heart of the city and is considered a “power spot” filled with spiritual energy. If you walk around Kamakura, you are sure to see this magnificent Shinto shrine with bright red colours. The shrine celebrates the messenger of the Hachiman god, which is the pigeon, so it is sometimes colloquially called the “Hato Shrine” as “hato” means pigeon in Japanese.

Hokokuji Temple is best known for the beautiful, small bamboo grove found behind the temple's main hall, which lies thick with over 2000 dark green bamboo stalks. A few narrow pathways lead through the bamboo to a tea house where, for a small fee, you can sit and enjoy a cup of matcha tea while enjoying views into the bamboo grove. Also located behind the temple are a series of shallow caves carved into the hillsides, which are believed to hold the ashes of some of the later Ashikaga lords.
