What you can expect

This is a walking tour, but we make good use of public transport, and there are places to sit down along the way as well. So, no need to worry about it being too hard on the feet!

Join John, your new history teacher, on a journey through the first capital of the samurai! On this tour, he'll weave a storey for you that will bring you right back into those ancient times. Valiant samurai, vicious betrayals, and zen stoicism are abound on this tour!

Engaku-ji Temple: Dive into the history of Zen Buddhism and its impact on Japanese politics and art.

Shojin-Ryori Lunch: Enjoy a traditional Buddhist monk's meal (Standard for 8-hour, by request for 4-hour).

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine: Explore the epicentre of Kamakura-period samurai politics and religious practice.

The Great Buddha (Daibutsu): Stand before one of Japan's most beautiful and massive bronze statues.

Enoshima Island (full-day tour only): End the day at this holy island turned beloved seaside retreat.
