What you can expect

  • The Dunajec Gorge is one of the most spectacular stretches of river in Central Europe. For 18 kilometres, the river winds through a canyon of sheer limestone walls rising up to 300 metres above the water, carving the natural border between Poland and Slovakia through the heart of Pieniny National Park.

The raft trip has been running since 1832. Today, the Polish Raftsmen’s Association counts over 900 members — more than 500 of them active — piloting traditional wooden rafts downstream in the distinctive folk costumes of the Polish highlands. It remains one of the most visited natural attractions in southern Poland, and one of the few that genuinely lives up to its reputation.

This listing provides a pre-booked entry ticket for the raft trip from the starting harbour in Sromowce Wyżne-Kąty to Szczawnica — approximately 18 km downstream, with a journey time of around 2 hours 15 minutes.

    Two options are available:

OPTION 1 — WITH RETURN BUS
Your ticket includes a return bus transfer from the end point in Szczawnica back to the starting harbour car park in Sromowce Wyżne-Kąty. Buses run approximately every 40 minutes. The last bus departs approximately 3 hours after the closing of the ticket offices at the starting harbour. The return bus stop is located at Szczawnica, ul. Pienińska 1.

OPTION 2 — WITHOUT RETURN BUS
For travellers who have arranged their own onward transport from Szczawnica, or who plan to continue their journey from the end point independently.

The raft carries a maximum of 12 passengers. Tickets are collected at the starting harbour — please arrive 15 minutes before your departure time.

Note: Online tickets are sold for the Szczawnica route only. Tickets to Krościenka are not available online.
