Jiuxiang Cave Scenic Area
The Jiuxiang Scenic Region, located about 90 kilometres (56 miles) from Kunming, is a vast network of limestone caves, underground rivers, and dramatic karst formations. It is considered one of the most spectacular cave systems in China, known for its grandeur and natural beauty.
Highlights of Jiuxiang:
Shengtian Cave: This massive underground chamber is often referred to as a “Palace of Nature” for its immense size and impressive stalactites. It is the largest and most famous cave in Jiuxiang Cave.
Yincui Gorge: A narrow gorge with emerald waters, where sunlight creates a magical interplay of light and shadow.
Lion Hall: A spacious cave featuring rock formations resembling lions and other creatures.
Fairy Field: Terrace limestone formations that mimic the appearance of rice paddies. This is a large open space with terraced rock formations resembling rice paddies, earning it the name “Fairy Field”.
Underground Waterfalls: Witness cascading waterfalls hidden deep within the caves, creating a mystical atmosphere.
