What you can expect

Begin your adventure at Shirahige Beach, where you'll find the reception for Shirahige SUP. Change into your water clothing in the on-site changing rooms and arrive at the reception 5 minutes before your start time.

Before heading out onto the lake, an instructor will explain how to ride the SUP, how to use the paddle and your body, and the tour route while on land. Then, get on your SUP on the water and practice paddling as you head towards Shirahige Shrine and its Great Torii Gate.

Once you get used to it, relax and enjoy the scenery. Take in the grand scale and beautiful views of Lake Biwa. Arrive at the Great Torii Gate and take commemorative photos in front of the mystical Great Torii Gate standing in Lake Biwa.

Park your board on the private sandy beach to rest, lie down and float on the water, or look into the clear lake to see schools of fish. Spend this time relaxing with the scenery, trying SUP yoga, practising turns, or paddling around to explore.
