Discover surfing in Gran Canaria with Wavelovers
Would you like to learn to surf or improve your technique in a natural environment, without crowds and with expert instructors? Enjoy an unforgettable experience at Playa de La Laja with Wavelovers, a school that combines professional teaching, a passion for the ocean, and personalised attention that makes a difference.
Just 10 minutes from the centre of Las Palmas, Playa de La Laja is a little-known spot, perfect for surfing in peace. Its volcanic sand bottom, constant waves, and relaxed atmosphere make this place the ideal setting for both a first lesson and for perfecting your surfing.
Our experience begins with a welcome, where you'll meet your instructor and the group. Then we do a physical warm-up and a technical explanation on the sand about safety, posture, paddling, and basic technique. Then, into the water! There, our certified instructors will be with you at all times, helping you step by step.
Our approach is 100% hands-on. We want you to be able to stand up, keep your balance, and enjoy the feeling of surfing your first wave. And if you already have experience, we'll work with you on more technical aspects such as turns, timing, and reading the sea so you can take your surfing to the next level.
We work with small groups to offer personalised learning, tailored to each level. We use the exclusive Wavelovers Method, which combines biomechanics, pedagogy, and learning psychology to teach you how to surf in a progressive, safe, and fun way.
It includes:
• Complete experience (approximately 2.5 hours)
• Certified instructor
• Board, wetsuit, and full gear
• Accident and civil responsibility insurance
• Individual feedback
Suitable for all levels, from 8 years and up. You do not need previous experience, just to know how to swim and have a great desire to have fun.
Wavelovers is more than a school: it's a community, a lifestyle, and a way of understanding the sea. Join us, feel the energy of the ocean, and experience surfing in one of the most special corners of Gran Canaria.
