Overview

  • Discover Lipari with a walk in the heart of the historic centre, starting from the port of Marina Lunga. We will go up along via Meligunis to the Piazza del Comune and the Castle of Lipari, where we will visit the ancient acropolis, the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo, and the panoramic amphitheatre overlooking Marina Corta and the island of Vulcano. We will then proceed towards Marina Corta, via Maddalena, San Bartolomeo Extra Moenia and Portinenti, to return through the characteristic alleys of the village and Corso Vittorio Emanuele. During the journey I will tell the storey of Lipari through its history, its places, and the daily life of the Aeolian Islands.

Castello di Lipari

We will arrive at the Castle of Lipari and walk inside the ancient acropolis, among archaeological remains, tombs, and testimonies of the civilisations that inhabited the island. Whoever wishes can visit the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo. We will then proceed to the amphitheatre, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in Lipari, with a view of Marina Corta and the island of Vulcano. We will stop for a few minutes to admire the view and take photographs.

Lipari

We will go down from the Castle towards Marina Corta, crossing the characteristic streets of the historic centre. Arriving in the square by the sea, we will stop to observe the small harbour, the fishermen's boats, and the atmosphere of the village. From here we will also have a beautiful view of the Castle and the oldest part of Lipari.

Lipari Town

From Marina Corta we will proceed along Via Maddalena, crossing one of the most characteristic areas of the historic centre. We will pass through the piazza of San Bartolomeo Extra Moenia and continue through houses, alleys, and views of the sea until we reach Portinenti, where we will stop for a few minutes to admire the panorama.

Lipari Town

From Portinenti we will return towards the centre crossing the characteristic fishermen's streets and the small alleys of the village, among houses, views, and corners linked to the most authentic life of Lipari. We will then reach Corso Vittorio Emanuele, the heart of the town, and from there we will continue to Marina Lunga, at the port, where the walk will end at the same point from which we started.
