What if the texture of a wine could tell you about the terroir it comes from? Here is a unique and exclusive experience in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Imagine touching a piece of velvet, closing your eyes, and recognizing in your glass what your fingers feel… the terroir. This is exactly what you will experience during this geo-sensory workshop – a fun and unique experience, conceived by Rossenia Coaguila Oviedo, sommelier and geotechnical engineer, at the Domaine du Grand Tinel in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
During this workshop, you will discover that the terroir is not an abstraction reserved for experts: it is a concrete sensation that your body naturally perceives. No prerequisites are required. This workshop is for both the curious who are discovering wine and the enthusiasts who want to understand the art of tasting in a different way and expand their knowledge of the terroir.
You will start this activity with a short cellar tour, accompanied by a member of the family, and continue with the tasting workshop in the estate's former sales cellar, located between our two vat rooms, in a private and intimate space, away from prying eyes. You will discover 4 different vintages, all certified AOC* Châteauneuf-du-Pape, including 1 white and 3 reds.
This workshop has been designed to illustrate our terroir and our wines to you in different ways, according to each person's sensitivity. Here, you don't just taste wines: you touch the soils that gave birth to them and fabrics carefully selected to evoke their aromatic personality. This unique geo-sensory approach allows you to understand, in an intuitive and memorable way, how the terroir shapes each Châteauneuf-du-Pape wine.
Samples from our different terroirs will be available to you, as well as haute couture fabrics, selected in connection with the wines tasted and carefully sewn by Rossenia herself.
Rossenia is a sommelier, geotechnical engineer, and live guide, based in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Her dual scientific and sensory background led her to develop a completely new tasting method that creates a dialogue between geology, fabric, and wine. Rossenia also draws her extensive experience from her close work with Mr. Georges Truc, a geologist and specialist in the terroir of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
This experience is only available for small groups of 2 to 8 people maximum.
At the end of the workshop, each participant will receive a QR code giving access to a digital summary sheet of your geo-sensory tasting.
