What you can expect

Start from Nagoya in the early morning, first arriving at “Magome-juku”. This ancient post town, built along the mountainside, features winding stone pathways lined with well-preserved wooden buildings. Strolling through it, you can almost hear the footsteps of travellers from centuries past. Every detail here tells a storey of time gone by. Walk slowly along the Nakasendo trail, overlooking the valley views, and feel the atmosphere of the Edo-period journey.

Next, head to “Tsumago-juku”, as renowned as Magome and one of the first villages in Japan to be designated as an “Important Preservation District for Traditional Buildings”. Buildings from the early 19th century stand quietly, a water wheel turns, and the lanes are peaceful—offering a complete picture of a post town from the Edo era. Compared to Magome, Tsumago feels even more tranquil and rustic, perfect for slowing down and savouring the old days.

In the afternoon, the tour takes you deep into a hidden natural wonder—“Ryujin Falls”. The waterfall is tucked away in a lush forest, named for its winding shape resembling a dragon. Beautiful in all seasons—fresh greenery in spring, dense shade in summer, autumn leaves reflected in the water, and snowy scenes in winter. A short 10-minute walk from the car park leads you there, with babbling streams along the way and fresh, clean air. It's a healing spot far from the hustle and bustle.

In just one day, from ancient post roads to a forest waterfall, history and nature blend together, bringing you an unforgettable memory of Central Japan's Shoryudo region.

We look forward to meeting you on this unforgettable journey!
