Day 1: Marrakech to Tinghir via Ait Ben Haddou
Your adventure begins at 7:00 AM with a pickup from your Marrakech accommodation. You will drive into the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n'Tichka pass, enjoying panoramic views of rugged peaks and traditional Berber villages. By midday, descend towards the iconic fortified village of Ait Ben Haddou. This ancient UNESCO World Heritage site has served as the backdrop for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. You will have time to walk through its narrow earthen alleys and enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, the journey continues through the Valley of the Roses to the lush oasis town of Tinghir, arriving by 5:00 PM max for dinner and your overnight stay.
Day 2: Tinghir, Todra Gorges, and the Dunes of Merzouga
After an 8:00 AM breakfast, take a short drive to the awe-inspiring Todra Gorges. Walk along the canyon floor, marvelling at the 1,000-foot limestone cliffs towering above you. Afterwards, drive deeper into the desert landscape, arriving at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga between 4:30 PM and 5:00 PM. Here, your Sahara experience begins with a peaceful 40 to 50-minute camel trek into the sunset towards your camp. You can also choose to walk alongside the caravan. Alternative upgrades are available on-site: a 1-hour quad bike session costs an extra €50 for a single rider or €60 total for two people sharing, while a 4x4 vehicle transfer is an extra €10 per person. Arrive at a traditional desert camp for mint tea, a Moroccan dinner, campfire music, and a night under the stars.
Day 3: Merzouga Desert to Marrakech
Your day begins with an early morning wake-up call to witness a breathtaking Sahara sunrise over the golden dunes. After enjoying breakfast at the camp, you will take the camels back to the desert base. From there, you will board the vehicle and begin the long drive directly back to Marrakech. Because this is a long journey, the drive will include regular stops along the way for drinks, lunch, rest, and bathroom breaks before arriving back in Marrakech in the evening.
