Your journey begins in Maskeliya, where your guide will pick you up in a tuk-tuk.
As you drive towards Upper Gartmore Falls, your guide will tell you about the tea estates that shape this landscape and the rich heritage of the Tamil community that has lived in these hills for generations.

Enjoy the scenic 45-minute tuk-tuk ride, where every corner surprises you with a new view of the tea estates and mountains. When the road narrows and gets bumpier, you will catch glimpses of the shimmering waters of Mausakelle Reservoir below.

When you arrive near Upper Gartmore Falls the sound of the water becomes louder. A short walk brings you closer to the cascading falls - known locally for their beauty and relative seclusion. Unlike busier tourist spots, Upper Gartmore still feels intimate and untouched.

One of the highlights of this experience is exploring the natural pools formed at the top of the waterfall. Smooth rock formations cradle clear, cool water that reflects the sky above. Your guide will show you the safest spots to sit, relax, and soak in the scenery. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can take a refreshing dive into the pool - surrounded by panoramic views of rolling tea estates and distant mountains.

Served with a view over the hills and water below, you can enjoy a simple yet deeply satisfying treat: fresh roti and sambol. The roti is warm and lightly crisp, paired with spicy sambol bursting with flavour.

The tuk-tuk ride back to Maskeliya is quiet, winding through the same hills that now feel more familiar. Travel, at its best, changes how you see a place - and how you see yourself within it.
