What you can expect

  • A stop at Trou-Aux-Cerfs, dormant volcanic crater with its 360° panoramic view, starts the day. A drive through the forest of the island’s interior, will take you to ‘Ganga Talao’ sacred lake. Further down the Black River Gorges National Park you will reach a local restaurant with a breathtaking view over the coastline. Continue to Chamarel with its magnificent waterfall and unique Seven Coloured Earth, evidence of a geological phenomenon.

On the return journey, the impressive view is dominated by Le Morne mountain and Ile aux Benitiers.

The Chamarel region is known for its lush vegetation and rainy climate. Bring an umbrella or raincoat and a light jumper during the local winter period.
