What you can expect

  • Take a day off as an individual tourist and enjoy the beauty of the Beara Peninsula in a small group of up to 6 people in a comfortable minibus in a relaxed atmosphere.
This tour takes you to ancient stone circles, impressive megaliths, and other prehistoric sites deeply rooted in the history of this landscape and all of Ireland.
Along the way, you will experience the spectacular coastal and mountain landscape of the Beara Peninsula with its dramatic views over the Atlantic – a paradise for photography and relaxed exploration.
The tour is suitable for history buffs, curious travellers, and families alike, and combines the wild nature of Ireland with the mysterious world of its prehistoric monuments – at a relaxed, personal pace.
As a trained regional tour guide/Irish Heritage and Culture and with 30 years of experience in West Cork, it is important to me to show guests an authentic Ireland. I combine the latest archaeological findings with the sites, making Ireland's rich cultural heritage tangible and palpable.
The tour departs from Skibbereen at 9:00 AM, with the option to join in Bantry or Glengarriff (Kenmare on request). It goes across the Beara Peninsula and ends back in Bantry at 5:30 PM or 6:00 PM in Skibbereen.
The price includes entry fees/donations as well as snacks.
We will have lunch in a small, charming restaurant near a mountain lake, in the middle of the rugged nature of Beara.
In the afternoon, we will stop for refreshments in the most beautiful, colourful little village in Ireland. From there, you can sit back and relax, letting the impressions sink in and enjoying the scenery as we drive home along Bantry Bay.
