At The African Food Trail, we are passionate advocates for culinary tourism in Africa. Our business model is built on the belief that food has the power to connect people, bridge cultural gaps, and create lasting memories. We strive to showcase the incredible diversity of African gastronomy, from the vibrant back streets, food markets to refined dishes from local kitchens.
On this tour you can choose from three different slots, the breakfast slot starting at 9:00am-12:00pm, lunch 12:30pm-4:00pm and evening slot 4:30pm-8:00pm, each lasting 3 1/2 hours.
This tour begins outside Fort Jesus Museum(Meet up point) and entails food sampling, culture, history and Architecture of Mombasa.
For the breakfast slot, we’ll try out some Swahili breakfast foods like mahamari (coconut bread ) mbaazi(black eyed peas in coconut) and other typical swahili snacks.
For the lunch slot, it’s mainly rices (pilau,
biryani, coconut rice) with stews ( goat meat, fish & local vegetables) we’ll try out local juices ( tamarind, sugarcane, bungo) coconut water, and some popular swahili snacks. ( cassava chips, Mitai, Katlesi etc)
For the evening slot will mostly try finger foods (viazi karai, bahjia, kababu etc) and some bbq’d meats.( Mishkaki,Tikka, mkate wa nyama)
The cost is Inclusive of all food, drinks, guiding fees & transport during the tour. This tour ends on Makadara rd, Old town Mombasa.
