What you can expect

Discover Salamanca with an official guide on a guided tour designed to show you the highlights of the historic centre and help you understand the city from its origins to its current cultural importance. Starting at the iconic Plaza del Poeta Iglesias, next to the statue of Churriguera, you'll begin a walk through the heart of Salamanca with explanations about its urban development and its great historical figures.

For about an hour and a half, you'll walk through some of the city's most representative spots. You will pass by the incomparable Plaza Mayor, a social and architectural epicentre, continue on to the unique Casa de las Conchas with its façade full of symbols and coats of arms, and marvel at the imposing building of La Clerecía, a Baroque emblem that today houses the Pontifical University.

The tour continues with an immersion in the history of the University of Salamanca, one of the oldest in Europe, where its facades, courtyards, and the university tradition that has marked the life of the city for centuries are explained.

The tour also includes a look at the two cathedrals — the Old and the New — jewels of the Gothic and Renaissance styles that dominate the city's skyline and have centuries of history within their walls.

The visit ends at the iconic New Cathedral, allowing you to continue exploring on your own or enjoy the magnificence of its historic surroundings after an overview of Salamanca.
