Reach the summit of Mount Etna in complete safety, accompanied by licensed mountain and volcanic guides, for a unique experience on the highest active volcano in Europe. Depart from the Rifugio Sapienza area, at an altitude of about 1900 metres, and take the cable car that will take you to an altitude of about 2500 metres. Begin the trekking by passing through the sites of the most recent and significant eruptions until you reach the highest point permitted by the current ordinances, which are issued based on the levels of volcanic risk and are constantly changing. After a stop of about 30 minutes to eat something, admire the surrounding landscape and take some pictures, we will climb the Barbagallo craters (eruption 2002/03), descend on their east side, and head in the direction of the spectacular Valle del Bove, which is an ancient caldera and, as highlighted by recent studies, was formed about 9,000 years ago from the collapse of the old eruptive centers of Mount Etna. We will then continue south until we reach the base of the crater that was formed during the great eruption of 2001. After crossing this, we will head towards the cable car that will take us back to the starting point.
