Step into Takachiho Gorge, often referred to as one of Japan’s “hidden gems.” The gorge is lined with dramatic basalt cliffs formed by ancient volcanic eruptions, standing steep and majestic on both sides. At its centre, Manai Falls cascades gracefully from above, resembling a flowing, misty painting.
You may choose to ride a manual rowing boat and admire the waterfall from the water level, experiencing the refreshing mist and echoing sounds of the gorge up close. Alternatively, take a leisurely walk along the trail to enjoy ever-changing perspectives of light, shadow, and rock formations—every step reveals a new scenic view.
