Trade the city for the cool bamboo hills of Anji on this fully private day trip from Nanjing. Your English-speaking guide and private driver collect you from your hotel and head into the green Zhejiang countryside, where ancient stone paths, clear streams and a string of waterfalls make for a refreshing day in nature.

The heart of the trip is the Zhangli Ancient Road, a black-stone path that winds gently through dense bamboo groves. The route offers views of waterfalls when the paths are open and water levels allow. Along the way you pass quiet mountain hamlets, a torreya-nut grove and the “Big Rock House,” a large natural stone shelter.

The walking follows stone and streamside paths that can be wet or uneven, so wear shoes with good grip. Depending on trail access, the route may pass Sisters Falls, the “dripping water wears the stone” spot and shaded bamboo lanes. Lunch is included during the day; the stop and return route depend on trail conditions and the group pace.

This is a scenic outing with walking on natural paths for travellers who want bamboo scenery, stream views and the quiet of rural Anji. After your time in the bamboo hills, your private car returns you to your Nanjing hotel in the evening.
