By supporting our cooperative, you are not only visiting a site, but actively participating in a project to enhance the area that has been recognised as an exemplary model of social enterprise. The route leads through three large galleries: the Navata dei Preti, the Navata degli Appestati, and the Navata dei Pezzentelli. Together with expert guides and people born and raised in the area, you will explore the deep bond between Naples and the afterlife, where faith is inextricably intertwined with folklore. We will tell you about the evolution of the evocative cult of the “pezzentelle souls” and take you up close to the famous skulls adopted by the people, analysing the historical and architectural context that makes this site unique in the world. We will delve into the legends most dear to our tradition: from the appearances of the legendary “Captain's Skull” to the alleged miracles of Concetta's “sweating cape.” It will be a passionate tale dedicated to those who want to be captivated by the mysteries that still live among these imposing tuff naves today.
