What you can expect

Located in the eastern-most part of São Miguel Island, Nordeste is considered to be the most beautiful region on the island and among the most flower-rich areas in Europe. Spend a day exploring this peaceful and isolated municipality and learning about its many plant and animal species.

Take your choice of travelling by either a van or a jeep. After convenient pickup from your hotel, enjoy a relaxing ride through the island's magnificent scenery to Nordeste. Make your first stop at Salto do Cavalo, the island's highest peak, and take in spectacular vistas of green hills and lush landscape. Catch glimpses of Povoação, the first place to be settled in the island, and the beautiful coast that extends beyond it.

Continue to the Priolo Environmental Centre and enjoy an interactive exposition that teaches you all about the area of Serra da Tronqueira, its fauna and flora, and the Priolo bird, which is endemic to the island. Take advantage of an opportunity visit the Endemic Species Garden, located next to the centre.

Finally, make your way into the town of Nordeste and enjoy a delicious lunch in a local restaurant. Take in the sights and sounds of this charming town before beginning the journey back to Ponta Delgada, stopping at coastal viewpoints along the way. Your experience ends with drop-off at your hotel.
