Mount Yufu Trailhead is the gateway to one of Kyushu’s most scenic mountains, often compared to a giant matcha pudding due to its smooth, green slopes. Umi Jigoku, or "Sea Hell," is one of Beppu’s most famous hot springs, known for its striking cobalt blue colour. The pool, heated by geothermal activity, reaches temperatures of around 98°C, making it a breathtaking sight rather than a swimming spot. The deep blue hue comes from iron sulphate, which gives it an almost otherworldly appearance. Rising steam adds to the mysterious atmosphere, especially on cooler days.
