Expedition Ojos del Salado

This 5-day expedition is designed for experienced mountaineers with prior acclimatisation, having already climbed peaks above 6,500 metres like Aconcagua, Llullaillaco, or Tupungato within the past week. Due to its extreme altitude and unpredictable conditions, this route is suitable only for those with high-altitude experience. Risks include severe altitude sickness, adverse weather, and technical terrain, making it essential for participants to be fully prepared.

We’ll meet you at the airport or hotel to take you to Laguna Verde where we’ll set-up the base-camp, rest for the remaining day and get ready for the days to come. Max altitude: 4340 masl / 14240 ft Transport: 4x4 Scheme: Transport the equipment (4x4); cooking; acclimatisation.

Day 2: Laguna Verde / Acclimatisation day

Laguna Verde

On this day we’ll put our bodies to the test. We’ll drive up till the Tejos camp and then hike for a few hours in the Ojos path and after go back to sleep at the Laguna Verde. Max altitude: 6300masl / 20670ft Transport: 4x4 Scheme: Drive up; hike; cooking; acclimatisation.

Day 3: Laguna Verde / Rest Day

We’ll set out early morning to reach the Ojos Del Salado summit (6893 masl). On this day we’ll see how all of our hard work flourishes. No doubts about it, this is the hardest day in our expedition. We’ll be ascending 1,000 metres, crossing a glacier, rock climbing, reaching the summit, descending, and drive back to Laguna Verde; all in the same day. Max altitude: 6893 masl / 22615 ft Transport: 4x4 Scheme: Climb; cooking; transport of equipment.

Day 5: Laguna Verde / Copiapó Hotel / End of our services (OUT)

Copiapo

This is the last day we’ll spend in the Nevado de Tres Cruces National Park area. Calmly we’ll take-down our camp and head back to Copiapó, leaving behind us this giant, the highest summit in Chile and the tallest volcano in the world. Max altitude: 390 masl / 1280 ft Transport: 4x4 Scheme: Camp take-down, transfer.
