Join a private matcha-making workshop at a peaceful art studio on the southern coast of Mukaishima in Onomichi. Just a one-minute walk from the sea, the studio overlooks a tranquil garden. This area is also world-renowned as part of Japan’s most scenic cycling route, Shimanami Kaido.

About This Experience
Escape the tourist trail and find a hidden gem in Onomichi. My workshop offers a unique blend of authentic Japanese culture and modern comfort, perfect for those seeking a personal and relaxing experience.

What You'll Do:

Welcome to My Home Studio: Your private experience begins as I welcome you into my modern workshop space, which looks out onto a serene garden.

The Story of Matcha & Zen: We'll explore the deep history of matcha and its connection to Zen philosophy. You'll learn the beautiful concept of Ichigo Ichie—cherishing this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

A Guided, Modern Approach: I will guide you step-by-step through the traditional preparation, adapted for a modern, comfortable setting. You'll learn to master the bamboo whisk (Chasen) and other beautiful tools.

Craft Your Perfect Bowl: Now it's your turn! We’ll be having a wonderful time whisking matcha together as we compare teas from three different growing regions. To accompany the tea, we have three varieties of delicious, traditional seasonal Japanese sweets. Whether you prefer the deep richness of koicha or the light froth of usucha, the choice is yours!

Savour the Tranquility: This is the best part. As you sip the delicious matcha you've made, take a moment to gaze at the garden, listen to the quiet sounds of nature, and simply enjoy the peace.

The time slots for the workshop are flexible. Please contact us if the scheduled times do not work for you.
