Padang City is the largest city on the west coast of Sumatra Island and the capital of West Sumatra province, Indonesia. This city is Indonesia's western gateway from the Indian Ocean. The history of Padang City cannot be separated from its role as a Minangkabau Rantau area, which started with a fishing village in Batang Arau Muara and then developed into a busy part of the port after entering the Netherlands under the flag of the Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie (VOC).

Padang City has many attractive tourist attractions to visit. Many Padang City icons are well known, even to foreign countries. The city of Padang is famous for its coast because the location of the city of Padang is not too far from the shoreline.
