What you can expect

Depart from your hotel in Palenque at 8:00 AM after breakfast, and embark on a 2.5-hour journey to Metzabok. Upon arrival, enjoy a 2.5-hour cayuco tour of the lagoon, where you'll see ancient cave paintings at the base of the mountains and visit a cave where Mayan rituals are still performed.

After exploring the lagoon, take a guided hike to a viewpoint within the jungle to get a panoramic view of the lush forest and the expansive lagoon. Return to the town for a home-cooked meal at a local family’s house before heading back to Palenque, arriving around 7:00 PM.
