What you can expect

On this 2-hour private tour, an expert guide will introduce you to the artists of the late 19th century, including Modigliani, Renoir, Picasso, Soutine and many others, and tell you about the mystery of the Orangerie’s collection and the extraordinary life of Coco Chanel.

In English the word orangerie means orange grove. The building that houses the museum was in fact, where orange trees were grown in the Tuileries Gardens. Later the building was transformed into a storage warehouse for the plants.

Eventually the practical functions were abandoned and the structure became the repository of pictorial representations of another, equally famous, garden – Giverny.

Giverny, the garden of Claude Monet, is located 76km from Paris. Monet represented the changing rhythms in the cycle of Water Lilies, on display in the Orangerie.

Hear the storey of the collection of Paul Guillaume, a dealer in the works of Renoir, Cézanne, Modigliani, Picasso and Matisse. This collection of priceless value aroused the greed of the evil Domenica, the wife of Guillaume, and led to a fake pregnancy, 2 murders, a third failed attempt and a terrible court case!
