What you can expect

  • Embark on a culinary adventure to Ipoh, the capital city of neighbouring Perak state, with a guided tour from Penang. Begin with a 2-hour scenic drive along the North-South Motorway from Penang.

Your first destination in Ipoh is the Wai Wai bean sprouts chicken rice restaurant, where you will be able to savour the famous Ipoh dish of taugeh chicken rice. Next, visit the traditional biscuit outlet at Gunung Rapat, where you will be able to try the handmade molasses biscuit that Ipoh is renowned for.

Continue with a visit to Tasik Cermin, or Mirror Lake, a pristine lake nestled among limestone hills where you can literally see a mirror image of yourself in the crystal-clear waters of the lake. Enjoy a boat ride on the calm waters of the lake.

Then, try Ipoh white coffee at Kin Loong Valley before heading to the Ipoh railway station, also known as the Taj Mahal of Ipoh due to its Moorish architecture. Conclude with a visit to the Perak Cave Temple, home to over 40 Buddha statues, before heading back to Penang.
