Hi there! I am Ashley J (“memorytxture”, she/her), a multimedia artist and cultural translator based in Hong Kong. I am dedicated to presenting you with an immersive cultural experience through portrait photoshoots and vivid storytelling.
Since March 2024, I have welcomed and made friends with 350+ clients from 50+ countries and received a 100% five-star rating.

Option 1 - Omakase : Photographer's Decision » I'll choose a meet-up location beforehand and decide the photography styles and the route after I meet you in person. Most suitable for people who enjoy excitement in new experience!
Option 2 - Tailored : Your Decision » Whether you are into instagram spots/street food/urban exploration/hiking/modern art etc., and whatever kind of film photography you like (natural/stylish/black and white/colour/daytime/nighttime/120mm/135mm), just message me and I can help you design a unique route to take the exact photos you want.

I am a multimedia artist, literature teacher, hardcore lover of Hong Kong, and researcher in Hong Kong Cultural Heritage (i.e. from street food to cuisines, from religions to traditional festivals, etc.) and East Asian culture. I speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin, and a bit Japanese.
I moved to Hong Kong myself at the age of 17 and have been living here for 13 years. I deeply care about this city. I am resourceful in multiple areas, from literature and films, urban farming, bouldering gyms, art galleries to architecture, education system, language learning etc. I'm very open to discuss basically anything with you!
I am super easy to talk with and want to make sure you enjoy the journey (the process of photo taking and our conversations) as well as the results (the photos).
I have been making genuine friends all over the world through photography. I can't wait to meet up with you!
Important Notes
- Don't hesitate to contact me even if your time is tight, the time can be very flexible, from 30 minute to a couple of days!
- I do film photography and this photoshoot service already includes the cost of the film. Film photography has a unique colour and texture which is especially suitable for Hong Kong night views, i.e. neons, illuminated streets, markets, Wong Kar-wai style.
- For photo delivery, I will send you the download link of the digital copies photos in 3-5 days.
Aside from the digital copies, if you want to hold the film negatives as a unique souvenir, you can pick up them with no additional fee.
- The weather in Hong Kong can be quite unpredictable, and I can not proceed the photoshoot if it rains heavily. We can keep in contact and decide together if you prefer to (1) reschedule the photoshoot or (2) shorten the photoshoot or (3) do an indoor photoshoot instead or (4) cancel the photoshoot.
