Begin your day with a visit to Xuanquanzhi Archaeological Site, an ancient Han Dynasty postal station along the Silk Road. Once a crucial hub for couriers, officials, and merchants, the site features archaeological remains and reconstructed structures that reveal daily life and communication on the Silk Road. Your guide will explain the significance of the Han-era inscriptions and artefacts, including items related to the short-lived Xin Dynasty.

Next, explore the Yulin Grottoes, a series of Buddhist cave temples dating back to the Tang and Yuan dynasties. The grottoes house exquisite murals and sculptures depicting Buddhist stories, offering a quieter, more intimate cultural experience than the more famous Mogao Caves.

This private tour includes comfortable return transport within Dunhuang and provides ample time for photography and cultural appreciation. Experience the history, art, and architecture of ancient Silk Road civilisations in a single day, with a knowledgeable guide leading the way.
