Komani lake shala river

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Tirana, Durrës, or Golem. Enjoy a scenic 3-hour drive north through the Albanian countryside, with the rugged mountains rising on the horizon. Upon arrival at Komani Lake, board a boat and cruise through one of Europe’s most spectacular waterways. Often called the “Albanian fjord,” the lake is surrounded by steep green cliffs and crystal-clear emerald waters. The boat will stop at Shala River (Lumi i Shalës), a hidden paradise famous for its turquoise waters. Enjoy time to swim, relax on the sun loungers, take photos, or have lunch at a riverside restaurant (own expense). In the afternoon, return by boat to Komani and continue by car towards Theth, crossing the dramatic Qafë Mali pass. Enjoy breathtaking alpine views as you approach the village. Arrive in Theth in the early evening, check into a cosy traditional guesthouse, and enjoy a peaceful evening surrounded by the spectacular Albanian Alps.

Day 2: Theth: Blue Eye, Theth Waterfall (Grunas) and National Park of Theth

Wake up to the fresh mountain air and enjoy breakfast at your guesthouse (included) before starting another day of adventure in the Albanian Alps. Begin with a short hike to Grunas Waterfall, a spectacular 30-meter-high waterfall surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. Enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, take photos, and, when conditions allow, cool off in the natural pool. Continue to the Blue Eye of Theth (Syri i Kaltër), one of the region’s most beautiful natural springs. Follow the scenic trail through the forest and discover the incredible deep blue and turquoise waters. Enjoy time to relax, take photos, or swim in the refreshing spring. Afterwards, have lunch at a local restaurant or enjoy a picnic by the river (own expense). In the afternoon, begin your return journey to Tirana, Durrës, or Golem. Enjoy the scenic mountain landscapes along the way before arriving in the evening, bringing an unforgettable two-day adventure to an end.
