Activity itinerary

Day 1: Where civilisation ends and 10,000-year-old footprints lead you into Fulufjället’s wild heart
  • 1 stop

We start by handing out backpacks and dividing the shared gear – tents, stoves, and food. Then we plan the route together using the map and compass before heading into Fulufjället’s ancient forest. The trail takes us across rocky slopes up to the mountain plateau, where we stop for lunch with a stunning view. As we continue towards our night camp, we talk about mountain safety, navigation, and what’s essential for a safe and enjoyable hike. When we find the perfect spot, we set up camp and cook dinner together. If the weather allows, we sit outside and share stories under the open sky. If not, we crawl into our tents and fall asleep to the soothing sound of rain on canvas.
Day 2: Fulufjällets nationalpark
  • 1 stop
  • Meals: Not included

Fulufjallets National Park
We wake in our sleeping bags, either to the sun warming the tent or the wind tugging at it. After a simple breakfast, we pack down camp. If it rains, we go through smart ways to pack a wet tent without soaking the rest of the gear. Then we continue across Fulufjället’s moon-like plateau, home to rare plants and untouched nature—this is one of Sweden’s few pristine mountains, never used for reindeer herding. After breaks for rest and lunch, we reach Rösjöstugorna in the afternoon. Here we set up camp again, with access to sauna and a lake for swimming or maybe a quiet moment of fishing or boating. A relaxing evening awaits before we crawl into our tents once more.
Day 3: Final day
  • 2 stops
  • Meals: Not included
  • Accommodation: Not included
Old Rasmus & Old Tjikko
  • 50m
  • Admission ticket not included
We wake to a new day much like the last—coffee, breakfast, and the ritual of packing down camp. Today we hike to Old Tjikko, a small fir tree with roots over 9,000 years old, making it one of the world’s oldest living organisms. If the skies are clear, we’re treated to sweeping views of Idre, Fjätervålen, and Grövelsjön. From there, we descend past Sweden’s highest waterfall, Njupeskär, and start to see people again—popular landmarks marking our return to the more travelled path. The wild parts of Fulufjället we’ve crossed remain hidden to most. By lunchtime we’re back at the car park, unloading our gear, saying our goodbyes, and maybe exchanging numbers with new friends. Then it’s time to head home—tired, happy, and already longing for the mountains again.

Marvel at the majestic Njupeskär – Sweden’s highest waterfall – where the raw power of nature meets serene alpine beauty. A breathtaking highlight of our Fulufjället adventure.
