Overview

  • Mlaku Ijen Tours offers a truly flexible private day trip in Yogyakarta. Instead of following a fixed schedule, you choose your own destinations—Borobudur, Merapi, Prambanan, caves, beaches, city culture, or hidden local spots—and your English-speaking driver helps arrange the best route for your group.

Choose a classic Borobudur & Prambanan day trip, the popular Borobudur–Merapi–Prambanan route, or fully custom private transport. Your group will travel in a private air-conditioned vehicle, with larger vehicles or multiple vehicles arranged when needed.

For longer adventures, multi-day custom trips to Dieng, Solo, Bromo, and Ijen are also available on request. With local recommendations, ticket assistance, and flexible timing, your itinerary is designed around your group—not a fixed group tour.

Activity itinerary

Yogyakarta

  • 1h 30m
Your private day trip begins with a convenient pickup from your hotel or preferred pickup location in Yogyakarta. From there, you will travel comfortably in a private air-conditioned vehicle with an English-speaking driver. The route and travel time may vary depending on traffic conditions, road closures, and the locations you choose.

Borobudur Temple

  • 2h 30m
  • Admission ticket not included
Your first stop is usually Borobudur Temple, the largest Buddhist temple in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 8th and 9th centuries during the Sailendra dynasty, Borobudur is famous for its massive stone structure, hundreds of Buddha statues, and more than 2,000 detailed relief panels depicting Buddhist teachings, daily life, and ancient Javanese culture. Your driver can share a brief history of the temple, explain the best photo spots, and help you make the most of your visit.

Merapi Volcano

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket not included
(Optional) After Borobudur, you will travel to your second destination, often Mount Merapi, one of Indonesia’s most active volcanoes and an important part of Javanese culture and local life. Depending on your chosen option, you may take a Merapi Jeep Lava Tour to explore the volcanic landscape, former villages affected by eruptions, lava formations, and the Merapi bunker. Your driver will explain the volcano’s history, its eruptions, and how local communities continue to live around this remarkable natural area.

Prambanan Temples

  • 2h
  • Admission ticket not included
The final stop is usually Prambanan Temple, the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia and another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the 9th century, Prambanan is dedicated to the Hindu trinity of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Its towering central temples, detailed stone carvings, and the famous storey of Ramayana make it one of Java’s most impressive cultural landmarks. Your driver can share the history of the temple complex and recommend the best areas to explore.

Yogyakarta

  • 1h 30m
At the end of the trip, you will be driven back safely to your hotel or preferred drop-off location in Yogyakarta. Throughout the day, your driver remains flexible to adjust the pace, route, and stops according to traffic, weather, and your interests.
