Activity itinerary

Waterton Village

  • 1h 30m
  • Admission ticket included
The Activity: Upon arrival into the townsite we visit Cameron Falls and stretch our legs with a gentle trail to orient ourselves and get a feel for the town and its beautiful surroundings: either the Townsite Loop (3.5km) or the Prince of Wales Loop (2.5km). You then have time to explore the beaches, boutiques, and other local shops at your own pace. Duration: 1.5–2 hours.

Cameron Lake

  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
The Activity: We'll then drive past the First Oil Well in Western Canada (a National Historic Site) on our way to Cameron Lake at the end of the Akamina Parkway. Known for frequent moose sightings, this serene lake's southern tip actually crosses the border into the United States. Duration: ~20 mins. Note – Alternative Option: if your group prefers to reduce time spent in the van, then the Cameron Lake stop can be skipped for more time enjoying the townsite, or a hike up the Bear's Hump trail (non-guided) which offers a fantastic view of the town and lakes from a higher vantage point.

Red Rock Canyon

  • 1h
  • Admission ticket included
The Activity: Next we take the Red Rock Parkway to hike Red Rock Canyon Trail and Blakiston Falls Trail, at a combined length of 3.2km. The area boasts striking red and green bedrock, and the road itself – open only between May and October each year – is famed for its mountains-meet-prairies features, wildlife sightings, and abundant wildflowers. Duration: 1 hour.

Bison Paddock Loop Road

  • 20m
  • Admission ticket included
The Activity (Time & Season Permitting): Located near the park’s north entrance, this scenic driving loop offers a rare opportunity to view bison in their natural grassland habitat from the comfort of the van. As a protected area, this loop is strictly for vehicles, ensuring a safe and respectful viewing experience. Duration: ~20 mins.
