Discover the awe-inspiring Mount Rushmore National Memorial on a guided winter tour from Rapid City. This world-famous monument, known as America’s Shrine to Democracy, features the colossal granite faces of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt, and Abraham Lincoln—each six stories high. Enjoy close-up views with special telescopes, learn about the monument’s history in the museum, and stroll through the amphitheatre and visitor areas.

Your guide will share fascinating stories about the memorial’s creation, including how sculptor Gutzon Borglum and his team blasted and carved the mountain from 1927 to 1941. You’ll also have a chance to spot the beautiful Rocky Mountain goats that roam the area, descendants of animals introduced to the Black Hills in the 1920s.

While Iron Mountain Road is closed in winter, your tour includes an exceptional alternative route, ensuring you can still enjoy breathtaking views, scenic stops, and photo opportunities. The tour is limited to small groups for a personal experience and includes comfortable transport, monument admission, and time to explore the memorial’s facilities, museum, and dining options.
