What you can expect

  • Step into the rich and layered history of one of Germany’s oldest Jewish communities on this immersive private walking tour through Jewish Regensburg. Explore the area of the medieval Jewish quarter, where Jews lived continuously for over 600 years—longer than in any other German city.

Visit the site of the Old Synagogue, once a centre of spiritual life, and the Place of Encounter, a very special memorial dedicated to the medieval Jewish community. Wander through the winding streets that once formed the heart of Jewish life, and learn how the community was re-established in the early modern period.

Learn about influential figures, local legends, and the community’s contributions to trade, scholarship, and civic life. Visit the New Regensburg Synagogue and the place where Emilia and Oscar Schindler lived upon fleeing from Czechia at the end of WW2.

Hear fascinating, yet sobering stories of Regensburg Jews hidden behind 'stumbling stones' (Stolpersteine). From medieval resilience to 20th-century tragedy and post-war remembrance, this tour brings Jewish Regensburg to life through stories, architecture, and memory.

The tour is perfect for history lovers, heritage travellers, or anyone seeking a deeper connection to the city’s cultural fabric.

Please note, that while we are fine with the children on this tour, there's no content (stories) for children on this tour.
