Explore historic old bush vine vineyards tasting some of the best organic Pago wines of Utiel-Requena with a professional WSET/Sommelier who produces his own Bobal from a small centenary plot; explaining Spains grape varieties, organic viticulture & really learn about wine with a revealing behind the scenes tour.

Meet the owners at the bodegas & appreciate top wines gaining insight into the lesser understood Cava in the cool underground cellars.

We travel through rolling landscape of vines, almond & olive trees steeped in a history of viticulture from Phoenican times & also visit La Villa de Requena; guided walkabout of 10thC Castle, plaza, Moors caves & Gothic churches of the conquest + opportunity to shop for artisan products.

A fully guided DO Pago vineyard & bodega visit (organic) detailed professional guiding by Toni Martin WSET/Sommelier qualified & the owners if available on the day. A wine 101 with interesting facts often not explained, from viticulture to wine & Cava making with guided tastings of 5+ wines inc. special vintage Cava Brut Nat. Rsva & a range of quality barrel aged red, white & rosado wines with maridaje. I can tailor the wines tasted to suit your tastes. The visit is relaxed with time in vineyard to understand the vine , various types of fermentation vessel, the barrel ageing explained & of course an impressive barrel hall, Cava cellar & process (why it´s not Champagne nor Prosecco), visit the owners restored home and antique cellars circa 1850, modern art works and other quirky items ...and tasting of the wines ...a great selection for you! The visit is approx. 2.5hrs and aims to go beyond a regular vineyard tour & truly understand the wine making process...

Our 2nd winery is a shorter guided visit with modern eco (solar panel etc) winery set within the former Dominio de Arenal Estate; a walled chateau style winery with the old bodega now museum + hotel retaining the heritage. We view the barrel hall with tastings 4-5 quality wines from their higher altitude plots of limited bottlings. You may choose the wines from a range of organic or natural wines & Cavas inc. maridaje of local produce to compliment the wines with views over vineyards. This is also fully guided by myself Toni Martin and the bodeguero. As our tours are by private appointment we may switch this bodega to another of status such as Pago de Los Balagueses to offer the best tour on the day.

Optional tasting Add-on of the unique Martán Caná Pastora & Pastorita artesanal organic wines pertaining to 120yr old Bobal vines. Hand harvest/selected, natural yeasts, no manipulation or stabilisation, very low sulphites & aiming to retain the soul of the wine from barrel to bottle Truly unrepeatable vintage representing bobals terroir with max. expression. Limited bottling of only 830 & 1450 bottles. Tasting in vineyards. Please enquire if interested in this add-on special tasting (purchase of wines possible). Euro25 p/p payable on the day subject to availability.
