Experience the essence of Rio in Pedra do Sal, a place where history, music, and joy come together in an unforgettable experience. It is considered the birthplace of samba and is steeped in Afro-Brazilian culture.
We will explore its streets, learn a bit about its history, and visit places like the Valongo Wharf, a historic site designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site because it was the main port of entry for enslaved Africans in Latin America.
Today, Pedra do Sal comes to life every week with incredible outdoor parties. Amid laughter, Caipirinhas, and live Samba, locals and tourists dance together like one big family; we include some shots to make sure you have an even better time.
If you're shy and not very sociable, don't worry—our energy is contagious. The dancers and musicians will get you dancing like an expert, we'll have raffles for drinks and souvenirs, and you'll be able to have shots as we walk to our destinations. If you don’t drink alcohol, you’re welcome too—come and meet some great people.
The meeting point is at Pedra do Sal (Largo de São Francisco da Prainha).
VERY IMPORTANT:
Depending on the time of day and the day of the week, our schedule may vary slightly.
On Fridays and Saturdays, Pedra do Sal is less crowded, but it’s still a great experience. The biggest and most famous party is on Mondays.
You can arrive after the activity has started; that’s no problem, you’ll enjoy it just the same.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us, and always remember that your well-being, safety, and happiness are our top priority. We’ll be walking, so please wear comfortable shoes and casual clothing, or whatever you think is most appropriate for parties and photos.
