Enjoy the silence and beauty of Lapland with a gentle canoe tour followed by a relaxing moment in a hot panoramic sauna.
Experience the magic of the Midnight sun in Lapland with this unique evening tour that combines relaxation, gentle exercise and stunning scenery. From Rovaniemi, your professional guide will take you to a lovely riverside sauna with panoramic windows where you will also find canoes and other equipment. A short introduction to safety and techniques will be provided by your instructor guide. You will then enjoy the peaceful surrounding and the majestic colours of the sky, paddling at your own pace on the quiet waterways of the river.
No need to be at an advanced level! Canoeing is an outdoor activity accessible to all, ideal for letting your mind escape to the peaceful rhythm of the water and the paddle. It also allows you to escape from your reality and enjoy a different perspective on the surrounding nature.
THE EXPERIENCE
Your guide will give you all privacy needed to enjoy those precious moments on your own, but will stay within reach for safety and may help you with the paddling techniques if needed.
After this relaxing canoeing moment, you will unwind and relax in the panoramic sauna that has been getting hot and ready for you while you were paddling. Feel the warmth of the sauna as you take in breathtaking views of the landscape bathed in the soft glow of the never-setting sun!
Your guide will lit the wood-burner in the sauna and give you more instructions how to use it in the very Finnish way, so you do not have to do anything but enjoy the delightful moment! There is also a wooden path that leads directly to the river if you would like to take a dip in the clear water. In summer the water might be surprisingly warm due to the continuous sun rays! It is very healthy to alternative hot sauna with fresh water (or at least cold air). If swimming is not for you, you may peacefully cool down on the wooden terrace enjoying the beautiful scenery while your guide serve some snack and hot drinks.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Sauna towels, soaps, birch tar oil and other equipment needed will be provided by your guide (please bring your own swimming costume).
About the sunset / midnight sun : depending on the period, you may enjoy the late evening sunset (July to September) and/or midnight sun colours (from late May until late July).
Afternoon sessions : we also organise afternoon sessions if you would like to enjoy the paddling in the warm afternoon and sauna sessions with the beautiful daylight view over the river. Departure is around 14:00.
