As we walk along the old Rue Royale, the multifaceted history of Saint-Denis unfolds: from the local bourgeoisie to the working classes, Creole “kaz”, public buildings, and museums follow one after the other. Each facade, each landscape bears witness to the Golden Age of Sugar and the “lontan” era.
In this iconic street, we observe the architectural details that make up the city's charm: lambrequins, shaded varangues, perched guétalis, and more. All these elements reveal a rich and diverse local identity.
