Begin your Salalah adventure at 9:00 AM with a guided visit inside the stunning Sultan Qaboos Mosque, a modern architectural gem known for its intricate marble design and colourful stained-glass domes. This serene and sacred space welcomes visitors, but women are kindly required to wear a headscarf and modest clothing (arms and legs covered).
Continue to the bustling local market, where you’ll witness the rhythm of local life — from traders selling fresh meat, cows, camels, and goats, to colourful stalls bursting with seasonal fruits, vegetables, and fragrant spices. Visit the lively fish market, where the day’s fresh catch from the Arabian Sea comes to life in a vibrant display of Omani culture.
Next, visit the Dahaquat Naquat of An Nabi Saleh, also known as the Footprints of Prophet Saleh’s Camel — one of Salalah’s most intriguing spiritual and historical landmarks. Inside a special building in the heart of the city lies a sacred rock bearing 14 distinct camel-hoof imprints, believed to belong to the camel of Prophet Saleh. The site also features two markings said to be the footprints of the Prophet himself, along with traces associated with the camel’s blood. This remarkable location offers a deep connection to Omani faith, legend, and heritage — a must-see for those seeking the spiritual stories behind Salalah’s landscapes.
Take a peaceful walk through the verdant Al Gharf plantation, where rows of tall coconut palms and sprawling banana trees create a refreshing tropical canopy. Feel the gentle breeze rustling through the leaves as you explore this hidden green gem, a striking contrast to the surrounding arid landscape. Witness traditional farming methods and the natural beauty that makes Salalah a unique oasis in Oman.
Dive into the lively atmosphere of Haffa Souq, Salalah’s oldest market bursting with colours, scents, and traditions. Browse stalls filled with pure frankincense, exotic perfumes, beautifully woven scarves, and unique Omani souvenirs — a true feast for the senses in a vibrant local setting.
Stop by Al Hush Palace, a former sultan’s palace, for exterior views and photo opportunities that highlight its historic façade and royal past.
Finally, enjoy an exhilarating off-road drive along the pristine Haffa Beach, famous for its soft white sands lined with graceful palm trees swaying in the gentle sea breeze. Feel the thrill as you traverse sandy trails beside the sparkling Arabian Sea, with breathtaking views of the coastline perfect for memorable photos. This serene seaside escape offers a peaceful blend of natural beauty and adventure, making it the ideal way to end your Salalah city tour.
