What you can expect

Discover the dark history of the Salaspils Memorial and Rumbula Memorials on a private tour from Riga. Learn about the former Nazi forced labour camp in Salaspils and the Rumbula massacre memorial, two of the most important dark tourism destinations in Latvia.

Visit the Salaspils Memorial, located at the site of the Salaspils forced labour camp, which was operated by the Nazi regime from 1941-1944. The memorial was opened in 1967, and a new exposition was created in 2017, containing photos, archive materials, and memories of survivors.

Next, head to the nearby Rumbula Memorial, created at the site of the mass extermination of Jews. More than 25,000 people were killed here in 1941. The Rumbula Memorial was opened in 2002.
