What you can expect
Spend a day soaking up the natural splendour and breathtaking beauty of Yosemite National Park on this full-day excursion from San Francisco. Trek to a grove of giant sequoias, marvel at features like El Capitan, and enjoy free time to explore the park's outdoor wonders and historic lodges on your own.
After an early morning pickup from your San Francisco hotel, make your way east across the bay and into the open expanse of the San Joaquin Valley, stopping for a quick stretch and a bite to eat before climbing into the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. You arrive in Yosemite early in the day with plenty of time—at least 5 full hours in the park—to explore. As you traverse the rugged landscape, stop to see iconic formations like the granite monoliths of El Capitan and Half Dome and the tumbling cascade of Yosemite Falls—the highest waterfall in North America.
Take in the breathtaking vista over the valley from Inspiration Point and then drive up into higher altitudes and less-visited areas of the park. Depending on the weather, you can set out on foot for a guided trek through the evergreen forest to the stunning Tuolumne Grove, where giant sequoias stretch towards the sky. Take in the grandeur in this ancient place before breaking from the group for some free time on your own. You can picnic, grab a bite to eat in one of the lodges, or hike to various viewpoints and landmarks before your late afternoon ride back to San Francisco.
