Experience the authentic Alaskan tradition of gold panning in Seward.
Begin your adventure with a personalised demonstration at our rustic gift shop, where you'll learn the ropes of gold panning in elevated troughs. Our knowledgeable guides will share local humour and history, making this a fun and educational experience for all ages.
The gold panning site is a canvas-covered, log-framed structure located just across from our walking bridge, between our office and the gift shop. Here, you can pan for gold and semi-precious stones in covered troughs, ensuring a dry and enjoyable experience, rain or shine. Depending on the salmon run, you might even spot salmon in the nearby creek.
As you pan in the elevated wooden troughs filled with proven pay dirt, there's a chance for everyone to take home their very own Alaskan gold and gems. Besides gold, you can find treasures like red jasper, hematite, fluorite, quartz, amethyst, red agate, tourmaline, and garnet.
The activity concludes at the gold panning site, leaving you free to explore more of Seward or visit our gift shop for unique souvenirs.
