What you can expect

  • Step out of the tourist zones and into a private, cosy kitchen in Shanghai. In this intimate, fully hands-on workshop, learn the cherished family secrets of making perfect Chinese dumplings (Jiaozi) and wontons (Huntun).

After a brief introduction of dumpling's history and storied behind it, we start by mixing and seasoning the traditional meat and vegetable filling. Roll the dough into delicate wrappers by hand. Learn the distinct, traditional folding techniques for both crescent-shaped dumplings and golden-ingot-shaped wontons.

When the pot is boiling, cook your creations. You will make two style: fried dumplings and soup dumplings. Sit down, relax, and enjoy the delicious meal you just prepared over local tea. It’s the perfect time to chat about food culture and everyday life in Shanghai.
