Description

Get a feel for Icelandic tradition and discover Reykjadalur Valley's stunning landscape on this tour that combines a mellow hike with a soak in some hot springs. Enjoy natural phenomena including mud pots, fumaroles, and hot springs with plenty of time for relaxing in the therapeutic pools.

Departing from Reykjavik, head east over the Hellisheiði mountain pass. As you drive, get to know the members of your small-group tour and chat with your guide about Reykjadalur Valley—referred to lovingly as Iceland's “Smokey Valley.” After arriving in Hveragerði, begin your ascent, catching sight of flourishing local vegetation along the way. Learn about fumaroles—the opening through which sulfurous gases emerge from a volcano—and glimpse mud pots bubbling with earth's activity.

Finally, arrive at a pristine location where the water from a hot spring mixes with a clear mountain tributary to produce the ideal temperature for swimming. If you wish, take a dip in the spring's delightful waters, relishing a moment to reward yourself following the gentle exertion of your hike.
