Since the 10th of September 2023 access has been banned to the Benagil cave for swimmers. Vagabundo Travel don’t like fun police, swimming was great for 7 years, but we now have 2 x 2-seat kayaks. The authorities have now completely banned standing on the sand inside the cave. You will however get a pretty spectacular look at the cave from the comfort of a kayak.
Our kayaks are quicker than the ones rented at Benagil and as we include transport to and from Lagos, beer and sangria and a picnic lunch it really is a no brainier. The kayak trip is dependant on weather conditions. On the odd occasion, waves at Benagil mean the lifeguards put up either a yellow or red flag and we are not permitted to use our kayaks. We will endeavour to inform you if this is the case prior to your booked trip.
