What you can expect

Takamatsu, located on the coast of Shikoku Island, is a stylish and compact city known for its gardens, art, and elegant streetscapes. The city’s most famous attraction, Ritsurin Garden, is considered one of Japan’s most beautiful landscape gardens. With its meticulously manicured pine trees, koi ponds, and traditional teahouses, Ritsurin is a calm and serene environment that captures the essence of Japanese aesthetics. The garden is a short tram ride from the port and is an ideal place to begin your exploration.

Near the port lies Tamamo Park, which houses the remains of Takamatsu Castle. One of the few Japanese castles built on the waterfront, its saltwater moats and scenic surroundings make for a relaxing historical stop. From there, stroll over to Kitahama Alley, a former warehouse district now transformed into a trendy zone filled with cafés, local boutiques, and street art.

Art lovers will enjoy the Takamatsu Art Museum, showcasing a mix of local and international works. With all of these destinations located within walking or easy public transit range, Takamatsu makes for an elegant and enjoyable port call filled with beauty, culture, and creativity.
